Through my work with the Kingston Association of Museums, Art Galleries, and Historic Sites (KAM), I was given the opportunity to illustrate colouring sheets of it's member institutions.
The commission increased public awareness of member institutions and participation at events. Due to their popularity, the sheets are being made into a colouring booklet.
Promotion of the Kingston's museums, art galleries and historic sites is is important to me on a personal level. Growing up in the Kingston area, these particular institutions played a key role in my decision to pursue a career in the library, archives and information field.
For this particular commission I:
- Designed and created more than 28 illustrations representing KAM member institutions to serve as colouring sheets at association events
- Interacted with the public by encouraging colouring at association events, which increased public participation of all age groups and public awareness of member institutions
- Listened to the public and KAM members to gain feedback that resulted in the evolution of the colouring sheets into a colouring booklet Colour Kingston: Canada's Museum Capital
- Collaborated with KAM staff through in-person meetings and email
- Researched and visited member institutions, which allowed for more detailed and distinct illustrations
Here are a few of the colouring sheets to be featured in "Colour Kingston: Canada's Museum Capital."
